the kids and i went to the christian bookstore in manassas to buy father's day cards a couple days ago. on our way to check out i found the kids looking in the "toy section". faith says to me, "mom, can i have this watch? then i can run on the treadmill like you." how could i resist?
as i was putting her to bed that night, i told her daddy was taking bryan and brookie to the swim meet in the morning. we could play together, just her and me. she said, "mom, you bike, i run. deal?" i didn't know whether to laugh or cry. so i gave her a high five and said, "deal" and turned to walk out of her room. she said, "no mom, i want to pound it." :)
the next morning i came home from a long run as she was waking up. she said, "go biking mom". i told her no, i was tired from my run, but i would work her out on the treadmill if she wanted. she ran a mile! what did she ask to drink on the treadmill? orange juice and water. my drink.
and here's us again this morning.
she's a girl after my own heart. so i pray,
Lord, break my heart for the things that break yours. help me to be just like you...because she wants to be like me. in Jesus name.
Amen
